St. Francis Xavier knew that Japanese didn't believe in God so when returning back from India, he realised he had to change Japan's beliefs. He knew he had to convince China first because Japan looked up to China for wisdom and advice. So he set sail for China but when he was trying to enter, St. Francis Xavier died from a fever at the Sancian
